Background of the Customer
A leading global natural resources conglomerate with operations in India and other countries, wanted to build a design-thinking led and user-centric group-level dashboard/analytics platform to gain visibility to data, information, and insights across the group. The project aimed to provide a single version of the truth and real-time status to the management and other stakeholders to help the conglomerate become a data-driven organization. STL Digital, a consulting services provider, was tasked with designing and co-creating the different dashboards with the stakeholders.
The conglomerate operated across different countries and business verticals, generating over 1.7 TB of data that needed to be collated and unified into a single view. The data flow from different units had to be automated to eliminate manual intervention, and the project had to be implemented using Azure products and services. The dashboard had to deliver high availability, provide real-time data collection, track price fluctuations, and create accurate forecasts for the future. The team had to provide weekly and monthly automated reports to senior management and integrate data visibility for all the business entities across different financial years.
STL Digital deployed a team of skilled professionals, including Data Engineers, BI Associates, UI/UX designers, ML experts, Data Scientists, and Azure System administrators, to design and co-create the different dashboards with stakeholders. The team used Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Gen2 Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure ML, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure File Share, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Virtual Desktop, and Power BI to build the dashboard. The team designed and co-created different dashboards with stakeholders, providing a unified view of data, a single version of the truth, and real-time status to the management and other stakeholders. The team automated data flow from different units, eliminating manual intervention completely, and provided high availability using Azure products and services. Real-time data collection from different plants, tracking price fluctuations to create more accurate and complete forecasts for the future, daily automated email alerts and reports to senior management, weekly and monthly automated emailers of summarized reports, and integrated data visibility for all the business entities across different financial years, including monthly and quarterly views, were some of the highlights in the differentiation that the team brought in.
